No Tolerance for the Intolerant

Behind the Design

"The Paradox of Tolerance" by Karl Popper is especially poignant to the peoples of the U.S.A today. Popper says "If a society extends tolerance to those who are intolerant, it risks enabling the eventual dominance of intolerance, thereby undermining the very principle of tolerance. If intolerant ideologies are allowed unchecked expression, they could exploit open society values to erode or destroy tolerance itself through authoritarian or oppressive practices. It’s a bit like the Paradox of Freedom, in that it’s necessary to limit both unchecked freedom and intolerance in order to prevent despotic rule."

While I like to pretend I'm well read, I do have dyslexia which makes me a very slow reader. I'm happy if I can finish 2-3 books in a year, but it doesn't stop me from reading!

Back to the original thought train, this paradox is a huge defining philosophy for me and most people I care about. There is also no intelligent argument against this paradox that makes the debater look good. It's a social contract, and as an autist I love when there are logical rules to socializing. All humans fall under this contract as long as they are tolerant of other humans. However, if you cannot tolerate an entire people because of their race, creed, class, occupation, ect, then you are no longer tolerated by the social contract of tolerance and therefore must not be tolerated.

It was PRIDE 2022 when I had the idea to put the PRIDE flag in the words. I wanted to be able to wear it so it would be easier for me to filter out people who could not tolerate me, so I wouldn't waist my time.
